'The Avengers' Panel from this past weekend's New York City Comic Con (including Photos and Video)

I had to go into the IGN Theatre, where The Avengers panel was held, about three hours before the actual event.  I had to sit through Nikita panel (meh), Sony presentation (which had a trailer for the Total Recall reboot and the new Ghost Rider), and The Walking Dead (very bad ass).   After the jump is a professional video of the panel (via bkbntv)   and some photos I shot.

Confessions of a Born Again Apple User

Steve Jobs passed away from pancreatic cancer today at the age of 56.  It's hard to believe that one man came up with so many innovations that are commonplace today.  With people checking into a local bar on Foursquare with their iPhone, while someone else reads the newest comic book on their iPad, or listening to the latest podcast on an iPod,  the Apple line of products are everywhere.  Even harder to fathom is that his  products were once considered the red-headed step child to the other products out there, namely any IBM or Windows based system.  You can say Apple was the HD-DVD to the Blu-Ray, the Sega Master System to the Nintendo Entertainment System, or a more modern example, what Android is to the iPhone.  Here's my relationship with Apple.

Kid Discovers the Shocking Ending of Empire Strikes Back for the First Time

I can't imagine what the new generation of Star Wars fan think about the new Star Wars movie, especially now that they don't have to wait a decade plus for an underwhelming set of prequels.  Here's one kid's reaction to the shocking reveal towards the end of Empire Strikes Back..

Lightsaber Battle in NYC

It's another flash mob event, this time with people meeting up in Washington Square Park NYC.  After the jump is some footage of the wanna-be Sith and Jedi battling it out, for what I don't know..

Can Einstein be wrong?

A discovery in CERN this past week has called into slight question the theory of relativity developed by Einstein.

Legend of Zelda Themes on Marimba

An original arrangement of the Main theme of Legend of Zelda was played on the marimba, snare drum, cymbal,  bells, timpani, and fittingly, a triangle.

and my personal favorite song of the Zelda series, Song of Storms:

Probably could have used two more triangles,  but still pretty awesome

5 Memorable Cinematic Moments Thanks to Queen and Freddie Mercury

Google commemorates the birthday of late Queen lead singer Freddie Mercury's with a colorful Google Doodle.  Mercury would have turned 65 today.

Since I grew up in the 80's, the heyday of Queen was before my time.  My limited exposure to Queen was in the songs they provided for movie soundtracks.   Freddie Mercury and Queen's signature rock operatic sound provided a very distinctive classic, yet modern sound to any movie.   Here are some notable examples:

Avengers Assemble in Central Park NYC

Filming began on location in Midtown Manhattan this past weekend for the Avengers movie, which will be released next summer.  I was never really an Avengers fan (more a Spidey fan), but I am psyched for this movie.  Footage after the jump....

Lightsaber Battle in NYC

From the same organizers that brought you the NYC pillow fight, comes the Lightsaber battle, where you will promise to have the most socially awkward 30+ year olds per square foot in all of the tri-state area that night!!!

"Join us for a massive battle of Jedi vs. Sith in downtown New York City. Pick a side of the force and use that venerable, ancient, glowing tool: the lightsaber, in the ultimate nocturnal showdown."
At least it gives these guys a night off from complaining on the Lucasfilm Bulletin Board sites about how.  and probably some much needed exercise.....http://gothamist.com/2011/08/30/lightsaber_battle_coming_back_to_ny.php
