Lawsuit for Ryan Gosling's 'Drive' Claims Movie is "Anti-Semetic"

A woman is suing the producers of 'Drive' and blames the producers..
"for creating a so-called misleading trailer that promised more "Fast and the Future" type action than the film actually contained,
okay false advertising, kind of like when you expect when a movie starring Clint Eastwood/Lee Marvin to be an action-oriented, carnage-filled violent movie.  But even more striking...
....... is talking about the other allegation against the Nicolas Winding Refn-directed, Ryan Gosling -starring film:in addition to misleading, he says that the picture is anti-semitic, as well..."

whoa whoa whoa... .. HOLD ONTO YOUR POTATOES!!!...

The One Where An 80's Sitcom Correctly Predicts Muammar Gaddafi's Death/After Life

Muammar Gaddafi's death was predicted by an 80's sitcom, Second Chance.  Not only did the show accurately predict Gaddifi's violent death, but it also gave us an insight on what probably happened to him after wards.

DeLorean Comes Back...to the Future

Article first published as DeLorean to Make A Comeback......to the Future in 2013 on Technorati.

Great SCOTT! First, Nike releases a sneaker based on the hit 1980’s franchise ‘Back to the Future’. Now another staple from the film, the DeLorean is set to come out in 2013. The Delorean Motor Company (DMC) has announced plans to build an all-electric version of the iconic, stainless steel gull-wing sports car that was made famous in the 80’s franchise. The Humble, Texas based company , which has the rights to the Delorean name, currently sells parts for the original DMC-12 along with restored and updated versions of the car, which have a starting price of $57,500.

DMC company president, Stephen Wynne saw an opportunity to bring back the Delorean after noticing the success of the Tesla Roadster. Wynne hopes to sell the electric DeLorean starting in 2013, for a price of $90,000. Though this particular model will not need a flux capacitor in order to run, Wynne and DMC teamed up with the aptly-named company, Flux Power. Flux Power, out of Escondido California, is primarily a battery manufacture, but has branched out into development of electric cars.

Several parts of the car will undergo a redesign in order reduce the weight of the car in to counteract the heavy 32 kWh battery pack that will be used in the car. DeLorean’s unique fiberglass underbody has been replaced with a much lighter, stronger composite. The final weight of the car, with the battery pack, is only 200 pounds more than the original. But with these alterations and redesign, Flux Power CEO Chris Anthony says that “he is aiming for the electric DeLorean to have the same, if not better performance than the conventional version of the car (source: foxnews.com).”

Development of the electrical DeLorean is continuing, but a prototype has already been tested on both the street and track over the past three months. So far, it takes less than eight seconds to accelerate from 0-60 mph with a 200 hp electric motor. The original design has the four-cylinder engine mounted behind the rear wheels. With the new design, weight distribution and handling will drastically improve over the original with battery packs installed in both the front and rear of the car. Anthony also hopes for a range of 100 miles between charges.

Where this car is going, you will still need roads (for now). But the good thing is, you won’t need plutonium, or gasoline to run this DeLorean.

'The Avengers' Panel from this past weekend's New York City Comic Con (including Photos and Video)

I had to go into the IGN Theatre, where The Avengers panel was held, about three hours before the actual event.  I had to sit through Nikita panel (meh), Sony presentation (which had a trailer for the Total Recall reboot and the new Ghost Rider), and The Walking Dead (very bad ass).   After the jump is a professional video of the panel (via bkbntv)   and some photos I shot.

Government to Build 'Data Eye In The Sky' to Potentially Predict Future

In the 2002 futuristic action thriller, Minority Report, Tom Cruise is the chief of police force called a "precog" force.  This police force use future visions by mutated humans with precognition abilities that can see the future way in advance.  Through these predictions, the police force has correctly predicted a murder attempt and prevented murder attempts in the city for the next 6 years.  As the New York Times reports, the government may be closer to a technology similar to this, a so called 'Data Eye In the Sky' .

A Grand Time to be a Geek, a retrospective

The twelve year old me (circa 1990....something) would be amazed with today.  When I was twelve,  the only cable channels of note were ESPN, CNN(Bo-ring), and HBO (which seemed to be a non-stop run of The Karate Kid part III, Fried Green Tomatoes, and Driving Miss Daisy). If you told me there are whole channels solely devoted to such things as Science Fiction (correction....was), Kung-Fu Movies/the Martial Arts, or Gaming/Geek Culture ,   I would call you a liar.  If I wanted to buy an Anime video or rare book that I couldn't find at my local mall's Sam Goody or Waldenbooks (respectively),  I would either have to travel all the way to New York City to a Tower Records (RIP) or Kim's Video.  If you told me that there is something called the internet and that I can get all of these just by sitting on my ass with one click of a mouse, I wouldn't believe you.  Finally, if you told me the twelve year old me that there was a massive event called Comic Con, which brings in the big industry leaders and personalites of comics, graphic novels, anime, video games, television, and movies all into one place, (a place where some companies will launch their new product lines) I would call you full of shit.  An event like this would be few and far between.   Now, it seems like every city has a Comic Con variant of some sort.  Before Comic Con would have been attended by the die hard fanboy( or girl) that could recite every origin story in their respective universe.  Now, it is attended by the casual fan that probably discovered a favorite superhero character from a summer blockbuster.  It is great to be finally accepted.  With what will be a recurring theme to this blog (then vs. now), I will first explore movies.

'The Simpsons' Renewed for Two More Seasons

Well Hot Dog!  We have a weiner!  'The Simpsons' have been saved for two more seasons.  A contract dispute between the voice actors and the producers threatened to end the series, but Fox announced that it will air through seasons 24 and 25.   Negotiations went late into last week, but were eventually rescued by...........................................................oh, let’s say Moe...

Great Geek Cinema courtesy of New York City

I will be going to my first Comic Con in New York City later on this week.  Even though the San Diego event is the premiere one in terms of popularity and well........ the fact that it is THE Comic Con (if you say that you're going to Comic Con people will know or assume that you're going to the San Diego event), I'll say New York wins out as the cooler, much nerdier city.  Let San Diego have their Del Tacos and year-round sunny weather.  Here is some great geek cinema courtesy of the Big Apple. The landmarks and their location are include, just in case you have time to check it out.  Much more thorough map (and my initial inspiration for this very posting)...here.

Buzzfeed's Ultimate Nerd Guide to New York City

For anyone swinging by later on this week to New York Comic Con later this week, Buzzfeed has provided a handy map of famous comic book, video game, and movie landmarks in the Big Apple.  Enjoy the New York City Subway System (though I would take caution if you run into ruffians like these) go for a run along the East River, take in a Broadway play , enjoy the sights of a museum,  at the very least, take in one good old fashioned bike joust.   Have a great time this week and leave the protesting to Occupy Wall Street activists.  Map after the jump..

Confessions of a Born Again Apple User

Steve Jobs passed away from pancreatic cancer today at the age of 56.  It's hard to believe that one man came up with so many innovations that are commonplace today.  With people checking into a local bar on Foursquare with their iPhone, while someone else reads the newest comic book on their iPad, or listening to the latest podcast on an iPod,  the Apple line of products are everywhere.  Even harder to fathom is that his  products were once considered the red-headed step child to the other products out there, namely any IBM or Windows based system.  You can say Apple was the HD-DVD to the Blu-Ray, the Sega Master System to the Nintendo Entertainment System, or a more modern example, what Android is to the iPhone.  Here's my relationship with Apple.

Steve Job's 2005 Stanford Commencement Speech

"Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary." - Steve Jobs

RIP Steve Jobs 1955-2011

Months after stepping down as Apple CEO, visionary Steve Jobs passed away today.   Apple posted this statement on the website.
"Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple. If you would like to share your thoughts, memories, and condolences, please email rememberingsteve@apple.com"

Origin of Lost Smoke Monster.....EXPLAINED!

One of the many mysteries of the hit ABC show Lost (e.g. where was the island, are the passengers dead or alive, etc.) have finally been revealed.  The origin.... (wait for it)....

of the SMOKE MONSTER!!!

The origin has been revealed to originate from (after the jump)

Straight from Evangeline Lilly's Sweet Ass....

"One time there was this guy who was really awful to me, and I was really struggling that day, because I had really bad gas. And as a flight attendant, you don't let that go when you're on a plane," she said. "So this guy got under my skin to the point that finally I decided to save it all up, and when I was walking past him and when I got to row 48... I let it rip, right in his face."

I did not think that girls, especially a hot one like this ever farted , ever, at all in public.  I am shocked.  Shocked AND appalled....maybe a little turned on, too..

Kid Discovers the Shocking Ending of Empire Strikes Back for the First Time

I can't imagine what the new generation of Star Wars fan think about the new Star Wars movie, especially now that they don't have to wait a decade plus for an underwhelming set of prequels.  Here's one kid's reaction to the shocking reveal towards the end of Empire Strikes Back..

Arrested Development is BACK!!

The show that launched the career of Will Arnett and Micheal Cera and spawned a new breed of situational comedy is back!   As Jason Bateman tweeted...

""It's true. We will do 10 episodes and the movie. Probably shoot them all together next summer for a release in early '13. VERY excited!"
